spring babymoon on the oregon coast

Mar 28, 2017

growing up, my family spent labor day weekend each year in cannon beach with a big--and i mean huge--group of friends. every year that group got bigger and friends became more like family. it was something my brothers and i looked forward to all summer long. thus, the oregon coast has become very near and dear to my heart. so when david and i were talking about if and where to do a babymoon, cannon beach was the first thing to come to my mind.

to share this little piece of my past with my husband and daughter, to make memories of our very own (our last little trip just us, the three amigos), would be an absolute dream. and it was.

we rented a little cottage just a jaunt from the beach, felt the sand between our toes and walked everywhere while we were there (here's to hoping all that walking will get things up and ready for this next month, eh??).

we were worried it would be raining the entire time we were there...that's what the forecast said. but, we were expecting it. it's spring. it's the coast. it's rainy. however that didn't stop us from playing at the beach, especially with a teeny toddler who was so so excited about her new pail and shovel that nana bought her!

and then, saturday happened. the rain stopped. the clouds parted. the sun peeked out. the birds began to chirp and the coast was in it's full glory. we decided to go on an adventure and drove fifteen minutes south to hit up manzanita beach, where the dunes and grass abound. and it was pure bliss.

hadley was absolutely loving life. she dug hole after hole, filled up her little pail, she chased puppies and picked up sticks. if this girl were allowed to live outside, she would in a heartbeat.

she has been so cuddly lately and it warms david and i's hearts so much. we were eating breakfast on the couch saturday morning, just soaking in the little things she was doing and saying and david mentioned how if we hadn't brought her with us it would be so so different, almost lacking. she adds such a dynamic to our adventures and we truly cannot imagine having done this trip without her.

it's hard to believe that in just a few short weeks our little family will grow to four...a tribe. a crew. this trip--the reflection, the rejuvenation it brought, the tears that were shed--was oh so necessary and cherished.

we will always remember our time at the coast--and we know hadley will, too. she hasn't stopped asking about the beach, wondering where it has gone. it's funny, before you have kids, you don't think about things like explaining that it was us who left the beach, the beach did not leave.

i recently partnered with jord watches and was able to gift david this beautiful dover series olive & acacia wooden watch. since he received it, he hasn't taken it off his wrist. i absolutely love that it can be both casual and dressy at once, especially since it's made of natural materials--hello, wood!

i'm so excited to announce that jord is giving one of my readers a $100 gift code to purchase their very own timepiece. all you have to do is click here to enter. and, to top it off, just for entering, you'll receive a $25 gift code to use once the giveaway ends.

good luck and happy entering! giveaway closes sunday, april 2!
